Whitestein Technologies Joins Motorola, IBM, HP, Hitachi and Other Key Players on Board of Global Standards Body for Autonomic Computing and Communications

Whitestein Technologies is proud to announce that Dr. Monique Calisti, its Head of Innovation, Telecom Systems has been appointed a Director on the Board of the 'Autonomic Communication Forum (ACF)'.

The ACF's goal is to lead the creation of a unified set of standards for autonomic computing, communications, and systems management. Other major industry champions in the ACF include Motorola, IBM, Intel, HP, Hitachi, Telefonica and France Telecom, as well as leading research bodies such as the Fraunhofer FOKUS Institute and various universities worldwide.

The ACF is the sole standards body that is addressing autonomic computing and communications. As such, it is uniquely positioned to ensure the coherence and interoperability of academic and industry R&D in this area – a degree of coordination that was formerly lacking, despite the significant investments and progress that have been made during the past years.

Dr. Calisti was elected as a Director on the Board of ACF and will also be acting as SDO Liaison committee industrial co-chair. In this capacity she will orchestrate the Forum's activities with other Standards Development Organizations and governmental agencies, such as the European Union or the United States NSF, together with the academic co-chair Roy Sterritt (University of Ulster, UK) and the rest of the ACF Board of Directors.

Whitestein Technologies' active role in the ACF further underscores the company's commitment as a leading innovator in the area of software agent technologies and autonomic computing & communications.
