Goal-Oriented BPM

The Living Systems Process Suite uses business goals to drive, track, and optimize a process. Goals are designed right into the process model and are used to govern and monitor its performance at all times.

With Goal-Oriented BPM, a process is expressed in terms of an organized hierarchy of business goals describing what the process must achieve.

Goals are associated with activity plans that contain BPMN flows describing how the process can achieve these objectives. Every goal may be achieved by several alternate plans.

The Living Systems Process Suite loads and directly executes Goal-Oriented BPM models to make sure that "what you model is what you execute."

The software pursues goals by selecting and orchestrating the optimal plans in real-time based on business policies and performance metrics. This yields unprecedented adaptability to changing business conditions, also for less structured processes.

Goal-oriented process modeling

The Living Systems Process Suite supports goal-oriented process modeling with GO-BPMN, an extension of the OMG standard Business Process Modeling Notation BPMN.

It enhances process models with goals, activity plans, and their relationships to unlock the power of goal-orientation.

Goal-Oriented BPMN enhances standard BPMN as it separates policy (goals) from procedure (plans): Goals describe what a process will do in terms of milestone and performance goals, while plans describe the ways how each goal can be achieved. This way, the Process Suite's goal-aware execution engine can dynamically combine the optimal plans to fulfill all milestone and performance goals.
