The Living Systems Process Suite uses business goals to drive, track, and optimize a process. Goals are designed right into the process model and are used to govern and monitor its performance at all times.

What is Goal Oriented Process Modeling?

LSPS cutting edge technology separates out processes into goals and activity/task plans. Goals are what you want to achieve in terms of milestones and performance. Plans achieve these goals. The Process Suite’s goal-aware execution engine dynamically optimizes processes to fulfill all business, process participant, and performance goals.

Why is this important?

There are frequently many paths to achieve a stated goal. Each path has a scenario in which it is the optimal solution. When multiple plans are available to achieve a goal, the Living System process engine dynamically creates an execution path that considers which plan alternatives are best suited to actual or changing business conditions. This results in the optimization of every business process in real-time.

The Living Systems Process Suite supports goal-oriented process modeling with GO-BPMN, an extension of the OMG standard Business Process Modeling Notation BPMN.

It enhances process models with goals, activity plans, and their relationships to unlock the power of goal-orientation.

Goal-Oriented BPMN enhances standard BPMN as it separates policy (goals) from procedure (plans): Goals describe what a process will do in terms of milestone and performance goals, while plans describe the ways how each goal can be achieved. This way, the Process Suite's goal-aware execution engine can dynamically combine the optimal plans to fulfill all milestone and performance goals.

The Living Systems Process Suite supports goal-oriented process modeling with GO-BPMN, an extension of the OMG standard Business Process Modeling Notation BPMN.

Using drag-and-drop modeling, LSPS improves on the idea of standard process modeling by using an innovative goal-plan construction. This construct specifies triggering events, enabling conditions, and action graphs of production rules. More specifically, in the process modeling environment, goals are the explicit representation of possible desired future states, ideal for enabling a process to exhibit adaptation, optimization, and intelligent decision support in a manner that is clear to both Business and IT users. 

In the real world, employees and customers cannot always follow a set sequence of events. More often than not companies must accommodate activities happening either out of order or in an ad hoc manner.
