Whitestein Technologies puts emphasis on technology-oriented research activities to provide the needed sound theoretical and conceptual foundation for its advanced technologies, products, and solutions.

In fact, Whitestein's product development strategy builds upon internal research projects that precede the product development projects proper, in order to explore and assess the corresponding technological and economic implications and impacts.

Current research activities cover:

• Exploration and analysis of advanced concepts, methods, notations, and algorithms for distributed real-time optimization, autonomic service composition and orchestration, goal-oriented business process management, autonomic service access management, and autonomic control systems.
• Evaluation and validation of agent-based, autonomic software technologies in selected application domains, e.g., data center automation, supply chain management, manufacturing execution systems, and next generation networks.

Furthermore, to ensure the necessary look-ahead for the latest technological and methodological know-how, and to build and maintain the important network of academic and industrial partners, Whitestein Technologies, in addition to its internal research activities, participates in few well-selected international research projects, mostly in the context of the European Union's EU IST Framework Programs.
