Job description

As a Project Manager, you are responsible for organizing, tracking and delivering mainly customer related but also internal software development projects. You are working in small teams of software engineers, keeping your eyes firmly on economical and technical objectives and deadlines. You build the main bridge between the customer and the development team knowing how to negotiate and write requirement specifications and beeing able to motivate a team of Java professionals. Tight contact with the customer is the basis for coordination and quick reactions to new and changed situations. Additionally to that we think that a project manager who is able to support its team by implementing parts of the solution will keep the technological expertise.

Through your past experience as project manager you have a good understanding of customer requirements and know how to implement them based on standard products by deliberate customizing.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Managing the entire development project
  • Getting and setting the right customer expectations
  • Identifying best opportunities to fulfill the requirements
  • Monitoring the progress of the project to keep deadlines
  • Creating project presentations and reports for the customer and the management team
  • Writing product project description (e.g. requirement specifications)

Required qualification

Education: You should hold a degree in Computer Science or Engineering, ideally in or related to one or more of the fields supply chain management, logistics, optimisation/OR and distributed computing.

Knowledge: You must have a broad knowledge of object oriented software methodologies and programming languages. You need a well founded knowledge in several of the following areas:

  • Industry know how in logistics, SCM or production
  • UML based modelling
  • Java or other OO language
  • Database systems (e.g. Oracle), database modelling and SQL
  • Unix/Linux
  • XML
  • Web development: J2EE/Tomcat/JSP
  • Software agent technology (would be a plus)

Experience: 5+ years of software project management experience, including presenting and negotiating at management level as well as team leadership.

Personal Abilities & Skills: Fluent English and German language both spoken and written is required. You should also possess:

  • Personnel and self management skills
  • Decision making skills
